Russian TV Channel To Air Assange Talk Show
2012-01-25
The Russian English-language channel RT, which is funded by the Russian government, says it has the rights to air a new television chat show that will be hosted by WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

A spokeswoman for the channel, formerly known as Russia Today, told the AFP news agency that RT had the rights to air the episodes of the chat show first.

The channel did not elaborate, saying that "details of the episodes and the guests featured are secret for now."

WikiLeaks announced the show on January 24, saying it would begin airing in March.

#5  The Russian government probably thinks this will annoy the west, but the truth is that only Russians will see it, and it will likely give them ideas.
The Soviets did propaganda like that, highlighting protests against segregation and the Viet Nam war. People under Soviet domination also noticed that those pictured were well dressed, well fed, and their environment obviously much more prosperous than in their People's Paradise. Not to mention that, in the West, protestors weren't simply shot down like dogs.

#2  This is actually funny. The Russian government probably thinks this will annoy the west, but the truth is that only Russians will see it, and it will likely give them ideas.
