Network) - At least 27 Al-shabab defectors have on Thursday surrounded to Somali government forces in Gedo region of southwestern Somalia and close to Kenya border, according to officials.TFG military officials in Gedo region who spoke to Shabelle Media by phone said the give up followed after the Al-shabab defectors made series of contacts with government and pleaded for amnesty.
"We received 27 defectors from the hard-line Al-shabab rebels in the past 24-hours, two of them senior commanders who were carrying with their weapons after they got in touch with us via telephone contacts," said TFG military officials.
