Rooters Laos halted construction of dam on the lower Mekong River because enviro-wackos from Vietnam and Cambodia complained about the migration of fish and potential harm to the dependent river communities. Thailand would receive most of the electricity generated by the dam. |

#1 It's not so much enviro-wackos as it is who gets to benefit from the flow of river water, Thailand's power grid or Vietnam's fishermen. Since the current government of Laos was elected by the Vietnamese Army back in the 70's, well, why did anyone think anything else was going to happen? |
