According to the local residents, the skirmish erupted in the early hours on Sunday, after heavily armed Al shabab Islamic fascisti tied with Al Qaeda have attacked on several Somali-Kenyan military bases in Qoqani and Kulbiyow villages, causing unconfirmed losses on both warring sides.
The locations were being used by members of Al shabab as training bases for years in the past, before the forces rolled in.
"The Islamic fascisti targeted Somali and kenyan troops in the remote Qoqani and Kulbiyow villages, with both sides exchanged heavy and slight weapons during the attack and counter attack on Sunday," a local resident, who asked not to be named, told Shabelle Media by phone.
