#9 ...why be in a rush. They're burning up several years worth of cannon fodder which would cause problems elsewhere. The nice touch is that we're returning the favor Syria extended to us during the Iraqi insurgency. There may not be 'interest' in Sharia but we in the West do believe in compound interest. |

#7 If you go to the Al Jazeera Syria blog and scroll down, you will find the vid. It clearly shows a smoke/vapour trail of a missile before the helicopter explodes. No zigzagging, so perhaps just an RPG. Curiously, the BBC has edited this part out and just shows the helicopter burning. |

#3 On-line MANPAD tracking and strike video is hard to come by these days. Interesting no ? Here is an old Russian SA-16 piece taken of a survivor with some good data. |

#1 A Man Portable Air Defense (MANPAD) weapon travels at supersonic speed will leave a vapor trail. I don't see spiraling or following trail. Looks like the aircraft was in the altitude range of 10k (+ or -)feet and within range of heavy machine guns. I suspect (but cannot confirm).... the "lucky BB". |
