2012-09-15 |
Suspected members of the Abu Sayyaf Mayor Roderick Fungay of Lamitan in Basilan said the five suspects arrived on board two motorcycles shortly after the three employees opened the station in a remote village of the town. Fungay said that, at first, the suspects pretended to be customers, but moments later they drew out their handguns and announced a holdup. He said the gunmen shot the caretaker when he refused to hand over a bag with $10,000 in cash and then turned their guns on his two other companions before they fled. In a related development, the military announced the arrest of two suspected Abu Sayyaf militants linked to the kidnapping of 20 people from a high-end resort in Palawan in May 2001. |
