Hostess: We got Court approval to close shop
2012-11-22
Hostess Brands Inc. announced that the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York today approved its emergency interim motion for the orderly wind down of its business and sale of its assets.

Judge Robert Drain approved the motion after the Company and the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco and Grain Millers Union (BCTGM) were unable to reach an agreement during an 11th-hour mediation Tuesday.

And thus Virginia, we learn once again why any advice + warnings from our long-dead or pre-dead ancestors should never be ignored or downplayed -GOD LOVES THE TWINKIE!

#6  The saddest thing is only 6000 of the 18000 are in the striking union. They took 2 other employees out with each of them.

Twelve thousand Irishman and no fights? Oh god! What would have Jogn Ford thought of them.

#5  Support business also took a hit. Many more than the 18500 figure will lose on this. I still say retirements are probably underfunded. I know 200 out of the fortune five hundred are underfunded.
Training offered but for what industry?. Who is hiring?.

#3  What to do with those 18,000 unemployed Irish bakers ?

Well....they're a restless, troubled lot. We could offer them cash and whiskey for a 90 day enlistment. Form them into regiments led by politicians, and march on "right to work" states.....

#1  Today's ChiTrib had a cartoon with the money shot being "It's Only A Twinkie." Typical lib gloss-over of the people looking at a more uncertain future (Granted that some may be deserving)....
