Man killed in 'sectarian' attack

[Dawn] After over a weeklong lull in assassinations in the city, a young man was bumped off in a sectarian attack in the Gulbahar area late Monday night, police said.

They added that gunnies riding a cycle of violence fired shots at 30-year-old Ali Haider in Gulbahar No 2 within the remit of the Rizvia cop shoppe and fled. The victim suffered fatal bullet wounds, causing his death on the spot, the police said. They said the victim had arrived in Gulbahar to see someone when he was targeted.

The motive for the killing seemed to be sectarian though the victim was also a sympathiser of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement
