[Dawn] Responding positively to one of the reservations of the opposition parties in Sindh, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday agreed that at least one army official will be deployed at every polling station in Karachi during the upcoming general elections, DawnNews reported.Speaking to media representatives after meeting a delegation, comprising of all parties which participated in a recently held sit-in in front of the ECP's provincial office in Karachi, Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim said that fair elections were the only way to take Pakistan out of troubles.
Representatives from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) and Sunni Tehreek had called upon the CEC to apprise him of their reservations.
He said it was government's responsibility to maintain law and order in Karachi as the city, he added, has become a hub of problems.
