That Nasty Ammunition | |
2013-03-07 | |
A Florida legislator wants anyone trying to buy ammunition to complete an anger management program first, in what critics say is the latest example of local lawmakers reaching for constitutionally-dubious solutions to the problem of gun violence. Is it something in the Democratic National Committee drinking fountain? The bill filed Saturday by state Sen. Audrey Gibson, D-Jacksonville, would require a three-day waiting period for the sale of any firearm and the sale of ammunition to anyone who has not completed anger management courses. The proposal would require ammo buyers to take the anger management courses every 10 years. Because people who buy ammunition are soooo angry. If we applied the rule to politicians the halls of the state legislature would be empty... "This is not about guns," Gibson said. "This is about ammunition and not only for the safety of the general community, but also for the safety of law enforcement." Of course it's about guns. What good are guns without ammunition?
Because coming in contact with criminals means you might hurt one. "It's about getting people to think, really, about how much ammunition they need," Gibson said. "It's a step, I think, in a safer direction. It's about getting people to think before they buy." I always think before I buy. I need as much as I can afford. | |

#10 I propose the Florida state senators complete a stupidity management program before they're seated. |

#9 Because people who buy ammunition are soooo angry Program likely staffed by people who think firearm owners are already irrational and angry so a person fails the class by showing up. Put in a clause that a person cannot privately transaction or gift ammo and there they go. |

#8 Is it something in the Democratic National Committee drinking fountain? I believe the Democrats require a criminal record before you run for office. Criminals, as a class, want disarmed victims. |

#7 If you have to think about if you "need" any ammo, then you don't have enough. |

#5 I want anyone running for public office to take a test on the Constitution of the United States to include a major written portion. Results won't be graded but will be posted early enough in the voting cycle to give any opponent opportunity to exploit displays of idiocy. |

#3 You can't be trusted to make your own decisions, so we will do it for you. Oh, and while we are at it give me your checkbook and credit cards so I can inspect what you buy with your own money before you buy anything. Now bend over. |

#1 I need as much ammunition as I am willing to buy. That is called the free market. Stand aside or attempt to deny me, Florida. |
