Embassy bomb closes French Institute
2013-04-24
[Libya Herald] The French Institute was shut down today, following the bombing of the French embassy this morning, and tonight's film-showing has been called off.

"We have cancelled all events and closed the Institute," Director Béatrice Bertrand told the Libya Herald today. "We will have to take it day by day, but I think it will be closed for at least two or three days," she said.

This evening the institute was to have shown seven short films about life in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
as seen through the eyes of the capital's inhabitants.

"After the bomb this morning, it is impossible to invite so many people to the institute because it could be very dangerous," Bertrand said.

"It is a pity because our work with Libyans is very good, we work very well with them," she said. Bertrand added that the institute had an excellent relationship with the community, in particular, with students, young people and artists.

"I hope we will be able to reopen in a few days," she said.
