| #2 Charles Dana Gibson reportedly used Nesbit as the inspiration for his illustrations of the "Gibson Girl". The author Lucy Maud Montgomery, unaware of her notoriety, used a photograph of Nesbit—from the Metropolitan Magazine and pasted to the wall in her bedroom —as the model for the heroine of her book Anne of Green Gables (1908).  |
