Texas Lawman "Cuts Loose" George Zimmerman, Wishes Him "Have a Safe Trip"
2013-08-01
CBS Dallas Fort Worth have claimed that the officer did not recognize Zimmerman, who has been at the center of a nationwide controversy since he was found not guilty of the second-degree murder and manslaughter of Trayvon Martin earlier this month.

Indeed, Zimmerman is even reported to have asked the officer if he knew his face from television and the officer again told the one-time Florida neighborhood watch captain that he did not.

While being questioned by the officer, Zimmerman, who was driving a 2008 Honda pick-up with Florida plates, told the officer that he was armed and was instructed to keep the gun in the car's glove-compartment.

The officer issued Zimmerman a warning for speeding and then sent him on his way - but not before asking him where he was going, to which he replied 'nowhere in particular'.

'Nowhere in particular, why is that?' responded the officer according to In Forney.com

'You didnÂ’t see my name?' said Zimmerman. The officer then responded, 'wow, what a coincidence.'

The officer then inquired if Zimmerman was free of any warrants for arrest, to which Zimmerman replied, 'absolutely'.

'Alright, IÂ’m gonna go back and just check you, routinely,' said the officer as he checked Zimmerman's proof of insurance and a driverÂ’s license.

'The reason you were stopped was for your speed, why donÂ’t you slow down a little bit for me and, as long as you donÂ’t have any warrants, IÂ’ll cut you loose with a warning,' said the officer to Zimmerman according to In Forney.com.

'Just take it easy, go ahead and shut your glove compartment and donÂ’t play with your firearm, ok?'

The traffic stop according to InForney.Com lasted approximately five minutes and after being given a warning, Zimmerman was sent on his way - being wished 'a safe trip' by the officer.

#23  Y'know, if that story had appeared in the San Bernardino Sun, the headline would have read:

ZIMMERMAN WALKS - AGAIN

#22  Deacon, I just had a similar experience on vaca. in TN. My wife rented us a Fiat 500 and driving along the Blue Ridge Pkwy. I felt that I had to get out and push up hill real quick down though. The nice police man let me go when I explained that I wasn't use to the car yet.

#21  LOL, Deacon.

You're quick on your feet. ;-p

#20  I talked my way out of a speeding ticket the last time I got pulled over. The Officer asked me did I know how fast I was going so I told him I wasn't sure. He said 72. I said, "Wow! I didn't know I could pedal this thing that fast". He let me go with a warning to "Pedal slower". I drive a Smart Car.

#19  I got off with a warning recently, probably because I didn't get out of my vehicle and start arguing with the CHiPpie - like the retired Gunny who got pulled over along with me.

#18  They're not likely to let you off with a warning in California. They'll write you up because they need the money.

#17  My comment regarding tickets was limited to Dallas County. Other areas of the metroplex have different policies. I understand that the 5-0 can be real hard-asses in Richardson, Carrollton, and many other counties. But as always, your mileage may vary.

#16   I wish they would give me a warning...they never do though. Posted by Maggie Platypus7681

An obvious case of Platypus profiling. I recommend losing the 19 inch rims, and a darker tint job.

#15  The officer may not have lied when he said he "did not recognize" George, he travels in disguise. The New Black Panthers ARE tacking his every incident. However, even if that wasn't true, I'm sure he didn't want to "handle" a 'hot potato'. I wish they would give me a warning...they never do though.

#14  I know from personal experience that in Dallas County most cops will let you go with a warning for many minor traffic violations. And having a gun is no big thing as long as you aren't doing anything bad with it. Texans respect the 2nd amendment. In fact 99% of the Midwest does. Chicago is a notable exception.

#13  "The world is full o' complainers. An' the fact is, nothin' comes with a guarantee. Now I don't care if you're the pope of Rome, President of the United States or Man of the Year; somethin' can all go wrong. Now go on ahead, y'know, complain, tell your problems to your neighbor, ask for help, 'n watch him fly. Now, in Russia, they got it mapped out so that everyone pulls for everyone else... that's the theory, anyway. But what I know about is Texas, an' down here... you're on your own."

#12  Welcome to Texas, George.

#11  The DOJ can only put a hold on the gun that Zimmerman used to defend himself. They couldn't prevent him from owning a gun.

#10  Given that the Black Klan Panthers have a bounty out on him, seems a responsible precaution given that DoJ has decided to look the other way.

#9  Don't forget it might have been a driving while from Florida or Miami stop.

#8  Zimmerman being a white Latino, the Texas officer was obviously profiling. Where is the outrage ?
Posted by: Besoeker   2013-08-01 07:41

#7  That's ght, RJ. Why should this make the news? Only because it's further proof that GZ is a bad man! He was...speeding!

Texas is a big state. On I-10, from the welcome station to El Paso is 997 miles. Easy for the foot to get a little heavy.

#6  Sounds entirely normal, for Texas, a gun's a tool, no more unusual than a hammer, and meant for protection.

The cop was RIGHT, no outstanding warrants, the truck's his, let him go.

That's the way it should go.

#5  was armed

Good for him.

#4  George, you are now making the right moves young man. Things are too liberal loco. Especially under the Obama administration. Being Latino and white, you have options. Live long. Via Con Dios.

#3  As evident at the beginning of the video, the officer is listening to slow country while catching fast drivers. Yep, definitely Texas.

#2  Obviously Mr. Zimmerman is going "fu*king co*n" hunting in Texas.
