Car boom kills one at Mogadishu market |
2013-08-17 |
![]() “While I was passing near the scene shortly after the bomb went off, I saw the twisted wreckage of the car near Dahabshiil building and the security forces were carrying out stop and check operations,” said an eyewitness. Security officials in Hawlwadag district of Mogadishu, say the explosion could have been caused by a bomb attached beneath the driver’s seat or landmine. Hussein Goley is the former owner of Global money Transfer Company, which later united with the collapsed Qaran remittance company, independent sources in Mogadishu reported. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the explosion-as has been the case for much of the deadly bombings and assassinations targeting the civilians and the Somali government officials are frequently the work of Somalia’s Al Shabaab group. |
