Libyan colonel gunned down
2013-08-24
[OMANOBSERVER] Gunmen killed a Libyan army colonel in a drive-by shooting yesterday in the eastern city of Benghazi, a security source said.

"Unknown gunnies in a car with tinted windows shot and killed Colonel Mustafa al Aguili," the source said.

"The attack took place after the victim left a mosque in the Al Hadaiek neighbourhood of Benghazi, following the main Friday prayers," the source added.

On Monday a judge was also bumped off in Benghazi as he was leaving a mosque.

Benghazi has been rocked by a series of killings of soldiers and police who served under the former government.

warned this month of "a broadening wave of apparent political liquidations in the cities of Benghazi and Derna in volatile eastern Libya" and criticised the authorities for failing to hold anyone accountable.

#3  But in Libya the old Number 1 was a Colonel and this Mustafa guy wasn't the new Number 1, so I guess the organizational structure has changed.

#2  Another one?

Colonels are like Number Threes, g(r)omgoru. Absolutely necessary to the organization, but there are plenty of Number Fours eager for promotion.
