| Tunisia pursues Chaambi terror suspects |

| [MAGHAREBIA] Tunisian security forces on Sunday (October 13th) raided the home of a terror suspect in the Kasserine region. A day earlier, police raided a residence thought to be sheltering Mourad Gharsalli, the alleged number two of a jihadist group near Jebel Chaambi. "Army and national guard reinforcements have been sent in, which could mean a large-scale operation" against the bully boys, Mosaique FM reported. Since December, security forces in the mountainous border region have been tracking an gang linked to al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). The head of Ansar al-Sharia ...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Tunisia and Yemen, with the Tunisian version currently most active... in Tunisia is thought to be holed up in the Chaambi area, where some 15 soldiers have been killed in jihadist shootings or bombings in recent months, AFP reported. Seif Allah ben Hassine (aka Abou Iyadh) is accused of orchestrating a deadly attack on the US embassy in Tunis last September and has been on the run ever since. |
