Blast inside Quetta seminary leaves two injured
2013-11-04
[Dawn] A mysterious blast inside a seminary rocked Quetta, the capital of Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
on Sunday morning.
Really, really mysterious. No idea how it happened.
The powerful blast left two people injured and destroyed five mud-walled rooms inside the madrassah (religious school) in eastern bypass area of Quetta.
Certainly no reason for anything to explode in a madrassah.
Superintendent of Police Sariab, Bashir Ahmed Brahvi told Dawn.com that the seminary was being used by Death Eaters to carry out subversive activities in the city, already plagued by attacks of Baloch separatists and violent sectarian attacks.
"Yes, some furriners moved in and one of them exploded..."
"Afghans were preparing kabooms inside the seminary," Brahvi said without naming any faction of the Afghan Taliban.
"Just your normal red wire-green wire mishap. You'd think they'd have it down by now..."
The strength of the blast was heard far and wide causing panic in the city. According to bomb disposal squad, the blast was caused by 20 kilogram kaboom.
44 pounds of kaboom? And it didn't blow the whole place sky high? Low quality stuff, that.
"The site of the kaboom is colored with blood," Brahvi said, adding that the two injured had not approached any hospital for treatment. The injured individuals disappeared soon after the blast.
"Mahmoud, let's go back to Afghanistan before somebody figures out this mystery..."
Brahvi said police recovered huge quantity of explosives, acid, detonators and literature in foreign languages from the madrassah.
"What languages?"
"Foreign languages."

"The madrassah had no sign board and it was not registered," he explained.
"So you see, it wasn't even actually there, technically..."
Another police official who requested anonymity owing to the sensitivity of the matter told Dawn.com that the blast has caused casualties. "The Death Eaters managed to shift the dead bodies and injured before the arrival of police," he said.
"Mustafa, take these dead guys and hide 'em someplace! The local cops will be here any time!"
"How long do I have, Abdullah?"
"Not more'n three or four hours!"

"You can see blood and destruction everywhere," he added. Police and personnel of secret services reached the seminary and launched an investigation into the incident. No arrest was made.
You can guess how surprised I am at that...
There has also been no claim of responsibility for the blast.
"Nope, nope. Wudn't us."
In another incident, bully boyz hurled a hand-held bomb at a house in Hazara Town area of Quetta. Police said the blast partially damaged the house and smashed the glasses of nearby homes. There were no fatalities as a result of the blast in the area.
Analysis of the stuff that went into the bomb was inconclusive, natch.
