Bomb kills defense volunteer in southern Thailand
2013-11-04
A defense volunteer was killed when the train station he was guarding in Narathiwat province was bombed yesterday.

When the volunteer led his colleagues to open a gate at a train station, an improvised explosive device planted there was detonated. The bomb sprayed his body with shrapnel, and he later died from his injuries.

In another incident, two soldiers were wounded in a bombing in Sungai Kolok district of Narathiwat on Saturday night. The bomb was planted in a roadside shelter and was detonated by radio signal on a road in front of the Isla mosque. Four soldiers were passing by on patrol around 9 p.m. Saturday when the bomb exploded.
