A militant wanted for his alleged involvement in a number of terrorist acts was killed by police in the Russian republic of Dagestan. Ruslan Kazanbiev was killed in a shootout in Dagestan's capital, Makhachkala, on November 19, after he and his associates reportedly attacked two separate police patrols killing two police officers, and injuring one. A bystander was also killed in a shootout.
Police in Dagestan say Kazanbiev's three associates are now hiding in a home in Makhachkala, which is surrounded by security forces and police. The special operation continues.
