Mine clearing operation kills Djiboutian soldier in Beledweyne |

BELEDWEYNE -- Djiboutian soldier succumbed to injuries and two others were wounded during mine clearance operation in Hiraan regional capital of Beledweyne on Sunday, Garowe Online reports. African Union Mission in Somalia said in statement "The incident occurred as experts of the Djiboutian mine action team were handling undetonated rocket propelled grenades when one exploded severely injuring three soldiers," adding that one soldier died on the way to AMISOM level 1 Hospital in Beledweyne shortly after the unprecedented accident. Djibouti peacekeepers in central Somalia have suffered the second death within a month as assault on police compound by Al Shabaab militants left Djiboutian soldier dead. |
