You might not even want to look.

I'll be retiring our current server, Honorable Lucretia, for the new one, Faithful Penelope, tomorrow after noon.

I'm going to shut access down when I leave for Baltimore. I'll probably sync the databases before I leave, which means another half hour or so. Twenty minutes travel time, thirty if I get lost, which I usually do in that part of town. Then the installation, which'll be about twenty minutes (most of it devoted to carrying the machine from the parking lot to the third floor of the building and the requisite polite chit-chat.) So we should be down for a little over an hour.

Penelope has been running in my basement, though under minimal load, for 79 days, with nary a bobble. She's got twice the memory and twice the storage of Lucretia, plus a better processor--i7 versus i3.

The major problem is that somewhere in that 70 minutes something will go wrong, so count on an hour and a half. Then count on at least something being out of whack--I still find things I forgot to do on Penelope's setup. At this point they're minor, but it bugs me that they're still there.

#8  What # 1-7 said, Fred.

I'll put it on my calendar to write a check when I pay bills this weekend - you deserve it.

#7  I assume you have made the proper sacrifices to Patron Saint Murphy, Fred?
And even if the optimisitc Murphy intercedes and thr transfer extends into the weekend, just remember that only Robinson Crusoe could have everything done by Friday.

Thanks, seriously for all you do.

Good thing, Fred, you have that lovely assistant in the photo. That's you in the tie, right?
