| Police officer killed in Dagestan shootout |

| One police officer was killed and another injured in a shootout Thursday night with militants in the Russian republic of Dagestan. A local law enforcement source said that one militant was injured but managed to escape from the clash, which took place in the village of Tlibisho. It is not clear how many suspected militants were involved in the incident. A lockdown imposed during counter-terrorist operations was put in place at midnight on Thursday in the district where the incident took place, though it was not immediately clear whether it was implemented before or after the shootout. |
