| Dhaka protesters call for expulsion of Pak envoy over Molla resolution |

| [Pak Daily Times] Hundreds of slogan-shouting demonstrators gathered outside the Pakistain High Commission here on Wednesday demanding the expulsion of the Pak envoy after resolutions were adopted by the Pak National Assembly expressing concern over the execution of senior Jamaat-e-Islami ... The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independentbranch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores... Bangladesh leader Abdul Qader Molla for 1971 war crimes. The protesters, mainly youngsters and 1971 war of independence veterans, were planning to lay a siege to the embassy as anger mounted all over the country after Molla was called "a supporter of the undivided Pakistain". Molla was executed on Thursday for genocide during the 1971 war, hours after the Supreme Court rejected his review petition. The Pakistain National Assembly adopted a resolution, saying, "This House expresses deep concern on hanging of a veteran politician of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh for supporting Pakistain in 1971." |
