was hacked to death in Raipur upazila of Laxmipur last night.

Kiron Hossain Pathan, 30, was Jubo League organising secretary of Char Mohona union unit in Raipur upazila, reports our Noakhali correspondent.

Police claimed that Kiron was killed over a land dispute while local leaders of Awami League and its youth organization, Jubo League, blamed Jamaat-e-Islami

It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. men for the murder.

Kiron was struck down in his prime when a gang of criminals allegedly led by his uncle Dulal Pathan hacked him in front of his residence at Char Mohona around 9:30pm, Rupak Kumar Saha, officer-in-charge of Raipur Police Station, said.

The OC said there was a longstanding conflict between Dulal and Kiron's father Mansur Pathan over a land dispute.

Earlier in the day, both the family locked into a quarrel over the matter. As a sequel to the incident, Kiron was hacked to death, the OC said quoting the family members.

Holding Jamaat-Shibir men responsible for the killing, M Alauddin, AL president of district unit, and AKM Salahuddin Tipu, joint convener of district Jubo League, demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the culprits.
