Head of Supreme Judicial Council "to be charged" with collaborating with the former regime
2014-01-09
[Libya Herald] Following allegations that the head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Ali Mawloud Hafida, had collaborated with Qadaffy regime, an official linked to the case has told the Libya Herald that charges will be brought against him.

The source said it would take "some weeks" to bring charges against him. The source added that it would take at least ten days to lift the political immunity afforded by Hafida's current position before any further action could be taken.

That would require a decision by Congress.

Reports of a meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council in the absence of Hafida to discuss complaints against him surfaced on Sunday. The council discussed a number of allegations that he used his position within the judiciary to suppress the revolution. These complaints came from a number of sources including Zawia Local Council.
