16 Insurgents Killed, 3 Injured in Operations |

[Tolo News] Sixteen gunnies were killed and 3 were maimed during a series of coordinated operations over the past 24 hours carried out by the Afghan National Army (ANA), Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS), the Afghan Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Wednesday. Seven other gunnies were tossed in the clink You have the right to remain silent... in the operations. "In past 24 hours, Afghan National Police conducted several anti-terrorism joint operations with Afghan National Army and NDS to clean some areas of snuffies and enemies of peace and stability of Afghanistan," the statement said. The operations were conducted in Parwan, Baghlan, Kunduz, Kandahar, Zabul, Pashtun-infested Logar and Paktiya provinces. "Also, during these operations, Afghan National Police discovered and confiscated light and heavy rounds ammunition and IEDs," the statement said. It did not report any casualties amongst the Afghan forces or civilians. The Taliban has not yet commented on the casualties. There are over 350,000 Afghan soldiers serving at the moment. Foreign troops are due to leave Afghanistan by the end of 2014, after handing over full security responsibility to the Afghan forces. |
