#8  OS: My callousness reflects my expectation that Kiev is a forewarning of what may very well happen soon enough in American cities...I am certain that any expectation of help on our part will be met by a most discouraging reality...

#7  a gangster style cronyist

Mr. Spook, your first paragraph is descriptive of our own feckless leader. Why would intelligent protester expect us to help? We're not impotent and cowardly, we're now on the other side.

#6  These protesters are trying to throw off a regime that's mere steps away from collapsing free speech completely, political prisoners, and becoming a complete vassal to Czar Putin. The guy they are protesting is a gangster style cronyist, who depends on a coalition of communists, Putin-backed goons, and his Eastern Ukraine regional looter cronies. He is talking one game, but his actions show him to be consolidating and centralizing control, while using the apparatus of government to persecute and attack those parties who oppose him politically.

And yet some of you sneer at the protesters requests for EU help. I'm sorry but that's pretty ignorant of you to do so.

Consider how shameful this is for the US: the protesters considered the EU more capable than the US, because the US is seen as impotent and cowardly based on our behavior against similarly aligned forces in Georgia a few years ago. So drop the sneering attitude based on your disdain of the EU. These protesters are not the Muslim Brotherhood we supported in Egypt that Obama indirectly supported. These folks are worthy of at least moral support from us, the citizenry, even if our government sits there limp-wristedly wringing its hands and hoping the press and people do not notice the repeat of a situation of us leaving a would-be western oriented revolution to twist in the wind.

#5  The contrast between the Ukrainians and Paleos in the Euros attention and concern as demonstrated in support, basically says it not about 'rights' but about an underlining view held of the 'other' in the conflict.

#2  For some reasons (and I've more than one) this doesn't fill me with outrage.

#1  And the US was never in the consideration, because the Ukrainians know Obama is A)Afraid of Putin, B) all not support freedom, and C) Basically feckless and gutless.
