Peace process heading in right direction: JUI-F leader
2014-02-12
[DAWN] Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...the political wing of the Pak Taliban...
-Fazl leader Mufti Kifayatullah on Monday said the grinding of the peace processor was heading for success and the nation would soon hear a good news in this respect.

"(Pak) Taliban are serious about holding talks with the government. I'm confident that the dialogue between the committees of the two sides will soon reach a positive conclusion," he told a news conference at the Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
Press Club. The JUI-F leader said the government's committee needed to show patience and play an effective role in the negotiation process with Taliban in order to resolve the issues amicably.

He said the impression about deadlock in talks was wrong and instead, grinding of the peace processor was very smooth and was heading for progress.

Mr Kifayatullah said it was a good chance to resolve the issues otherwise the situation would worsen in future as military operations were no solution to problems.

He said peace was the basic need for all, especially for the people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
... formerly NWFP, still Terrorism Central...
, who had suffered a lot over last many years.

The JUI-F leader said use of force was no solution to problems and instead, it was the need of the hour to resolve issues through peaceful means, especially dialogue, for durable peace in the region.

"Any deadlock in negotiations between the government and the (Pak) Taliban will prove detrimental for the country," he said.

Mr Kifayatullah said the US wanted to strengthen India to have supremacy all over the region as the two were anti-Pakistain.

He warned that if another military operation was launched, rustics would move Afghanistan complicating things instead of improving them.

The JUI-F leader said it would be very difficult to counter the US hegemony in the region if Fata was subjected to another military action.

He said he favoured peace talks as dialogue was the only solution to security crisis in the country.

Mr Kifayatullah urged all stakeholders to show 'decency' saying there was no chance of mistake on part of both sides (government and Pak Taliban) under the current circumstances.

He said the country's Constitution was completely Islamic and had complete room for enforcement of Shariah in the country.
