| Yemen police colonel killed trying to save judge |

| [The Peninsula] A senior Yemeni police officer was killed when a street patrol in the southern city of Aden intervened to stop gunnies from killing a judge, police said Saturday. Colonel Tareq Sharaf was shot in an overnight gunbattle with the assailants, two of who were maimed and placed in durance vile Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un! The gunnies's motive for trying to kill the unidentified judge, who sits on a commercial tribunal in the port city, was not immediately known. Yemeni authorities normally blame such attacks on Al-Qaeda or southern separatists. |
