We just spent a heck of a lot of resources and lives in the twentieth century trying to keep alive something that was desperately out to commit suicide. Instead we imported the madness to infect our own culture as well. Justinian wasted the resources of the Eastern Roman Empire trying to resurrect the old Roman empire leaving the exhausted remains to face the onslaught of the original Islamic Expansion and Conquest. Once is a tragedy, twice is a farce. |
