| NPA insurgents raid mining firm in Mindanao |

| Militants from the New People's Army on Saturday raided a mining firm in the southern Philippine province of Agusan del Norte. Reports said the insurgents swooped down on the Philippine Alstron Mining Company and overpowered the security guards without firing a shot before they torched several trucks and other heavy equipment.They also seized at least six firearms from the company's security arsenal. The raid came following threats made by the NPA on mining firms operating in the southern Philippines. |
