Two dead and two injured in suicide attack on Saiqa Special Forces base
2014-04-30
[Libya Herald] Two Saiqa Special Forces members were killed this morning and two injured after a jacket wallah detonated explosives in his car at the entrance to the brigade's 21 Battalion headquarters.

"The incident took place at 6am when a vehicle stopped at the front gate and its driver asked to gain entry," the commander of 21 Battalion, Salim Nayli, told the Libya Herald. "The car went kaboom! suddenly when officers asked to see the driver's identification," he said.

Benghazi Joint Security Room front man Ibrahim Al-Sharaa identified the two men killed in the blast at the base on Benghazi's Airport Road as Abdulsalam Mohammed Al-Araiby and Mohammed Abdullah Al-Darat. They were taken to Benghazi's Galaa Hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival and then transferred to the morgue at Benghazi Medical Centre.

The two injured men, who have not been identified, have been taken to a Benghazi hospital for treatment. One is said to be at death's door and the other to have received only minor injuries.

Thirteen people, civilians and security forces, were killed in Libya's first suicide kaboom in December when a suicide bomber in a truck hit a military checkpoint at Bersis, 50 kilometres east of Benghazi.
