Philippine military and police forces tracked down and captured another suspected Abu Sayyaf bomber Thursday morning in a remote village in Zamboanga del Norte province. Police Senior Inspector Joseph Ortega identified the suspect as Najir Ajilul, a bomber and member of the Abu Sayyaf hit squad Urban Terror Group (UTG). Ajilul, also known as Arab-arab, Jamil, Najer, Abu Robin, was captured Thursday morning after a brief shootout. The suspect was captured as military forces backed by intelligence units unearthed a bombing plot by the Abu Sayyaf group. Authorities on Saturday also arrested Nujir Ahidji alias Abu Jomar, an bomb expert, in a village outside the headquarters of Western Mindanao Command. Police confirmed that the Abu Sayyaf has plotted to stage bombings in key places such as North Cotabato and Zamboanga City following Ahidji's capture. |
