North Korea Says Two Detained Americans to Face Trial
2014-07-01
[ONLINE.WSJ] North Korea said Monday it will charge two Americans in its custody with unspecified crimes, a move that may signal the start of a process to extract coerced confessions from the men and eventually release them.

A four-sentence statement from North Korea's state media said U.S. tourists Matthew Miller and Jeffrey Fowle had been investigated for "perpetrating hostile acts" after entering the country. It said North Korea had evidence and testimony from both men about their alleged actions.

Mr. Miller, 24 years old, and Mr. Fowle, 56, entered North Korea on separate tours in April.

#7  North Korea sees the spread of religion as a threat to the grip of its regime.

Duh. But it can't be repeated enough. Same reason the left is having a spaz about Hobby Lobby.

#6  Pssst, comrade, would you like to travel
And see how true commies make gravel?
We can hang out a while,
Then put on a show trial,
And you're back with some bucks at the gavel!

#5  I wonder if they really are spies, and were identified as such in some of the Snowden documents?

#4  Why any American not on official business would voluntarily set foot in North Korea requires a lot more explanation than is available on the internet. On the other hand, perhaps this phenomenon points toward an unexploited business opportunity for a travel agency to organize trips to the lower reaches of Hell.

#3  Seriously, a "road maintenance worker" tours North Korea? Other then an obsession to tour the toilet of civilization, what the heck is anyone doing in North Korea?
