Fremont Sex-Ed Textbook With Topics On Bondage, Vibrators Along With Explicit Diagrams Has Parents Riled"Up
2014-08-08
[SANFRANCISCO.CBSLOCAL] More than a 1,000 people have signed an online petition protesting the use of a controversial health education book in the Fremont Unified School District's 9th-grade curriculum.

The book, titled "Your Health Today" is almost 400 pages long and among the subject includes information on bondage, orgasms, vibrators, along with explicit drawings and diagrams.

The text also describes how to buy and use condoms and addresses masturbation, binge-drinking and shows sex organs in various stages of arousal.

"Our high-school students today need all the tools they can have to arm themselves to make the best- informed decision," said the school district's Board President, Lara Calvert-York. Teachers from the district unanimously chose the book to incorporate in classes.

#6  ..to paraphrase someone else - where's the graft in that?

[Textbooks, one of the longest running rackets in the market]

#5  Y'all don't think the trend is to pre-loaded kindles? One can already rent/buy college textbooks for the thing, or any device that has the app. The storage requirements are minuscule compared to paper textbooks, the costs are lower, and basic kindles are cheap compared to Pads and such.

#4  My children have two sets of text books. One for the classroom and one for home. This was done after lockers were removed because of drugs. You coudln't have them carry all books to every class and then home.

Prediction: In the future, certain books (such as sex ed and some history, and socialogy books) will only have one copy. For the classroom. This will be done for the sake of the environment and kids will love it because it means less homework in those classes.

The real reason would be to keep said books away from parents prying eyes.

Looks like they have (6) schools for the "Freshmen" (High School 9th-Graders). Maybe (2) instructors per course = 12 people I wouldn't want to have at the bottom of the stairs as my kid was ascending.

#2  Well since they don't teach history anymore they have to spend that time on something. You don't think they would spend it on math or english or anything to develop actual thinking do you?

#1  Aw shucks, that ain't nothing, wait until they get to the part in Your Health Today about how Rednecks use vibrators. <--- Real eye opener that!

And of course, how about the part about childcare, you had sex, had a baby and now comes childcare.
