[Ynet] Iraqi forces have retaken two areas in the restive western Anbar province where Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... gunnies had surrounded two army bases over the past week, Anbar's police chief said on Thursday. #1 Given the tribalism the Iraqis have shown in previous engagements, I wonder if this is 'Iraqi forces' in general, or just some subset thereof that happens to be of the opposite Muslim polarity of the people whose asses they kicked. Or asked another way, are they fighting like a national army now? |
