[NEWSWEEK] U.S. Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you knowKerry Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State... called on Sunday for a renewed commitment to achieving Middle East peace, saying a lasting deal between Israel, the Paleostinians and all their neighbors could be achieved. But prospects for a renewed grinding of the peace processor appeared dim as Kerry offered no specifics on how to restart negotiations in his speech to a Gazoo reconstruction conference in Cairo. The last round of U.S.-brokered peace talks, presided over by Kerry, foundered in April over Israeli objections to a Paleostinian political unity pact including the Islamist Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, movement and Paleostinian opposition to unremitting Israeli settlement expansion. |
