| [Iran Press TV] Afghan officials say at least 17 coppers remain missing after they were kidnapped by Talibs following an attack in the northeastern province of Badakhshan. Afghan Interior Ministry front man, Sediq Sediqqi, said on Tuesday that the Taliban offensive took place in the Wardoj district of the province, situated some 315 kilometers (195 miles) northeast of the capital, Kabul, on Saturday. "The Taliban attack on Wardoj has created a problem in the area. We have sent more reinforcements," he said, adding, "We have also lost contact with 17 of our police forces, we are trying to establish connections with them again." They quickly got to work with their decoder rings... provincial police front man, Lal Mohammad Ahmadzai, said Afghan cops are trying to find their colleagues. "We have surrounded the Taliban in Wardoj. So far, 10 Taliban, including foreign nationals, and two police have been killed," he said. |
