Philippine troops killed two communist militants in a clash Wednesday in the southern province of Davao del Norte.Capt. Alberto Caber said the fighting broke out in Gupitan village of Kapalong town. He said troops were sent to hunt down New People's Army members when they encountered some and a firefight ensued. He said the fighting lasted almost an hour and stopped after the militants broke up into smaller groups and headed for the hills.
Caber said, "There was no casualty on our side and the pursuit operations still continue."
The fighting was the second in the remote village since Sunday when two militants were also killed by soldiers.
