Top U.S. general visits Iraq amid ISIS campaign |
2014-11-15 |
The top U.S. general arrived in Baghdad on an unannounced visit Saturday as U.S. commanders prepare to expand assistance to Iraqi and Kurdish forces battling ISIS. It was General Martin Dempsey's first trip to Iraq since President Obama ordered non-combatant forces back into the country this summer, less than three years after withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq. Dempsey said, "I want to get a sense from our side about how our contribution is going. I want to hear from those actually doing the lifting that they’ve the resources they need and the proper guidance to use those resources." |

#12 Thank you Steve White. A woman of the Kurdish YPJ in an interview said she does not take prisoners, saying they could have suicide bombs on them. However, I have seen videos of the Kurdish men of the YPG take prisoners who are clearly non-threatening. In WWII US Troops shot fanatical Japanese troops who would not follow instructions while surrendering thinking they may have a hammer and a mortar shell hidden on them. When in the midst of US Troops an IJA soldier not properly disarmed could hit the mortar shell with a hammer killing everyone around him. |

#11 I've read stories that the Shiites are fond of torture-killings, especially the militia men. I've no idea what the Kurds do -- though it seems to me they ought to be a bit busy just now for such self-indulgences. |

#10 When ISIS "soldiers" surrender, what happens to them? Are they beheaded or otherwise executed like happened to the Iraqi soldiers and others who surrendered? If not, why not? |

#3 Kurds and ISIS on the Eastern and Southern front lines in Kobane have been fighting continuously for 61 hours straight. Many ISIS are surrendering. Others are withdrawing in small groups because large groups end up getting caught in Kurdish fire and US air strikes. |

#2 Why assist the iraqis? They have proven they can't handle the responsibilty of running the country. Back the Kurds in their quest for their own country and let the rest fall where it may. |

#1 How about a stop over in AFG on your way back to check on the nearly $ .5 billion in U.S. 'resources' that recently came up missing there ? Or you could just sign this 'Statement of Charges' and it could be taken out of your check. |
