Roadside attacks kill two, injure one in southern Thailand
2014-12-06
Three people were killed and one injured in a series of attacks in southern Thailand yesterday.

In Narathiwat province, Chemino Sani was gunned down in Rangae district. A police and a forensics team found the woman's body with gunshot wounds to her head and back beside her motorcycle. Witnesses said the victim was heading for the market alone. Two men on a motorcycle followed her. The pillion passenger pulled out a handgun and opened fire before speeding away.

Police believed the attack was carried out by insurgents.

In Yala province, two men were attacked yesterday on a motorcycle while returning to their homes in Muang district. Viroj Polpadung was shot twice in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. Pakorn Suwan suffered minor wounds after jumping from the bike. Both men were village security volunteers.

Police said the men were leaving a checkpoint late on Wednesday when attackers hiding in roadside bushes opened fire. They believed insurgents were responsible.
