2015-01-17 | |
Iran's Foreign Ministry denied Israeli media report about wounding Iran's Qods force's commander in Iraq. The report published by Israel’s Ch. 2 News on Jan. 13 says that Iranian Revolutionary Guards Maj.-Gen. Qassem Solaimani, who heads the Qods Force "was seriously wounded in an Islamic State (IS) suicide bombing attack near Baghdad several days ago". Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told IRNA Jan.16 that Soleimani hasn't been wounded in Iraq and is in complete health now. Iran has confirmed its military aims to Iraq for combating against "Islamic State", formerly called ISIL. General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said on September 24, 2014 that Soleimani have traveled to Iraq to help combating against ISIL. "Without Soleimani's help, Da'esh (ISIL) would have taken over Kurdistan," he said.
