| Afghan forces resume operations in Dangam district |

| [Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan national security forces have resumed clearing operations in Dangam district of eastern Kunar province ... which is right down the road from Chitral. Kunar is Haqqani country..... , local officials said Friday. Provincial acting governor Shuja-ul-Mulk Jalala said the Afghan forces are supported by the air force during the operation. Jalala further added that Afghan special forces were deployed in different parts of Dangam district with the helicopters to fight with terrorists. The Talibs launched coordinated attacks in Dangam district earlier in December last year, sparking heavy festivities which continued for almost two weeks. According to Ministry of Defense (MoD) officials, imported muscle, including Chechens, Uzbeks and Arab snuffies were also fighting with the Afghan cops. |
