The Hashemite Kingdom sends a message: |

Al Ta'r = Revenge. Rough translation - pretty much a blood feud connotation - it is an ancient term in Arabic. The video speaks for itself. |

#17 Anybody got a link that doesn't require signing in through Google proving I'm an adult? Pain in the ass - I never got through, there were "issues." >:-( |

#14 This is all for Jordanian domestic consumption. Making sure the Paleo majority in Jordan get the message they will get whacked if they get ideas. |

#13 If I were Jordan i would try to get a number of Israeli pilots in some of my planes. Keep it secret of course but you want pilots with experience and perhaps your own pilots will improve at the same time. |

#11 Now it looks like one of the female US 'captives' was killed in a Jordanian airstrike (if she wasn't 'deceased' already). Could be a ruse, but will get the hand-wringers going nonetheless. |

#9 it looked OK in preview It looks perfect in Comment, too, OldSpook. So it ought to work in Rantburg proper, and yet it doesn't. This is why I didn't pursue my father's dream for me of becoming programmer, becoming a dilettante instead. ;-) But two of my siblings are now professing in the field, so he died happy. |

#8 Rantburg doesn't even support quotation marks and em dashes I don't know what it is with this latest upgrade and such things -- we never had problems with them before. It's been driving Fred nuts. Thank goodness he's got it down to mostly one symbol per, instead of the extended nonsense strings that originally popped up. |

#5 Chest-thumping and bragadaccio. Where are the results? We'll know something's being done when the Usual Suspects start complaining about "human rights abuses". |

#4 I would rather be inundated with articles about the Jordanian military doing what needs to be done, rather than the usual shit about the lackluster iraqi miltary. |

#3 I suppose we'll be inundated with articles about mighty & valiant Jordanian military for several weeks now. |

#2 Rantburg doesn't even support quotation marks and em dashes, they screw up in the headlines and the articles all the time when people copy & paste. I rather doubt it's going to do Arabic. |

#1 This is the arabic I tried to put into the title. Wasnt sure if it worked - it looked OK in preview but I think Unicode choked on it. Mods, please clean it up. الـثـار |
