Niger Declares State of Emergency in Region Attacked by Boko Haram |
2015-02-11 |
[AnNahar] Niger's government on Tuesday declared a state of emergency in the Diffa region along the border with Nigeria, which has been attacked repeatedly by Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... in recent days. "The state of emergency is proclaimed in the Diffa region for a period of 15 days," a statement read on state radio said. The measure will grant increased powers to security forces, including to carry out searches. |
