Sen. John Cornyn Introduces A Bill To Make Gun Permits Accepted Nationwide
2015-02-15
Federally-mandated state reciprocity = Tenth Amendment issues. If enacted, this precedent could bite back hard.

#10  Unfortunately, wid the advent of OWG NAU + Globalist desire to bring in Milyuhns of foreign workers as a result, I suspect that a "Universal" National Gun Permit will go hand-in-hand wid the implementation of Federal, then "Universal" RFID Chips + National Databases.

#9  @#7: Thank you. That is the point I was hoping to see taken away.

#8  It is rather pleasant having something sensible come out of that Congress...

#7  Federal acceptance could one day result in Federal non-acceptance. If it's all the same to you, I'll pass and let the States handle it individually.

#6  So, when one state authorizes illegals to have drivers licenses (BTW more vehicular deaths than firearms), the other state can authorize gun licenses to illegals? What could go wrong?

#5  Since so many states have such diverse laws, it’s impossible for gun owners traveling from state to state to know and understand them all.

No, it’s not impossible to ‘know and understand’ various state laws – gun regulations or otherwise. As a matter of fact, it’s quite simple. That is if you know how to read and have basic comprehension skills. If you choose to offer a constitutional objection I’m willing to listen. Otherwise, and pardon my crude language, fuck off.

#4  Please properly quote the Constitution - you have an extra comma in there and it IS important. "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

The spurious comma was added during a transcription and separates the "right" from the "operative" words.

As ratified by the States and authenticated by Thomas Jefferson, then-Secretary of State:

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Much more clear as to the meaning than the Senate transcript version - and also it should be the official version given that was the one ratified by the states and accepted by the Secretary of State.

#3   "I think it is unlikely that Obama would sign the bill. If you shoot a mugger, it could turn out to be a close friend of his."

heh

#2  So long as the Feds don't have anything to do with the permitting system.

#1  And could we say a reaffirmation of the second amendment to the US Constitution, you know the one that says "II A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
