In Battle for Kobane, U.S. Crews Recount Heavy Bombing
2015-02-15
[AnNahar] That's when a warplane drops every bomb on board. And air crews for the B-1 bomber told Agence La Belle France Presse it was not uncommon in the battle for the Syrian town of Kobane, recaptured by Kurdish forces last month.

The airmen, recently returned from a six-month stint flying combat missions over Syria and Iraq, recounted how American aircraft relentlessly pounded Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....

#4  correction "we" = US, Canada, Australia, and its pretty much complete. so there are bunched of M198 available, as shown by the recent shipment to the Lebanese Army.

#3  Dont need this if the US would just send them the artillery they have repeatedly requested. Many of the targets could have been "serviced" with FA and spotters by the local forces in contact. Give the Kurds some 155 towed artillery and a pile of ammo: they will put them to good use, and we need not fly so many airstrikes other than interdiction strikes.

Conveniently, we are phasing out the M198 in favor of the 777, so it should be no problem to give those old howitzers to the Kurds...

That is if the State Dept and Obama would stop fellating Erdogan and the Turks. We need to say "screw the Turks and Erdogan" and go the other way, treating them as a adversary, not an ally, due to their behavior going back to the initiation of OIF.

#2  Is any of Kobane still standing? If not, not enough bombing.
