Car bomb blast rocks downtown Narathiwat |
2015-02-21 |
[The Nation] A car bomb shook Narathiwat's downtown area yesterday, damaging dozens of homes and wounding 13 people, four of them seriously. The bomb was hidden in a pickup truck parked in front of a karaoke bar, not far from a Chinese shrine. The blast set fire to the pickup truck that carried the bomb but the flames were put out by a local fire crew. More than 20 homes and shophouses were damaged. Police said that the vehicle was stolen from someone who had been killed in a recent insurgent ambush in Songkhla province. In separate incidents in Narathiwat, another bomb hidden in a motorcycle parked in Muang district was detected and defused, while a "dud" hand grenade was thrown into a food shop. |
