Four wounded in clash with commies |

[Manila Times] Three soldiers and a militia member were injured in a gun battle on Saturday with a New People's Army unit that raided a police station in Davao Oriental province on February 15 that killed six people. The military said the NPA also suffered a number of casualties. Prior to the encounter, the same militants engaged on February 18. Saturday's encounter happened while the troops were tracking the militants whose position was reportedly tipped off by civilians. As troops approached the militants' location, they were met by gunfire from M-203 grenade launchers. The clash lasted for 40 minutes after which the mililtants withdrew. |
