| Police arrest 80 in Kohat crackdown |

[DAWN] Police nabbedDon't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out! 57 suspects including four Afghans and two wanted suspects from Kohat and surrounding areas, on Sunday. The arrests come as part of an ongoing effort to implement the National Action Plan (NAP) and crack down on suspicious activities in the province. Twenty-three more were arrested for violation of Section 144 ─ an act dealing with unlawful assembly, provocative speech, assembly of more than five people at a time, and the illegal use of loudspeakers. Police also recovered arms from the suspects. Earlier this year, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf... said the country needed to rid itself of the menace of terrorism once and for all, and that failure was not an option in the fight against militancy. |
